Weleda Pregnancy Perineum Massage Oil is a specially formulated massage oil designed to support expectant mothers from around the 34th week of pregnancy.
This 50 ml massage oil combines Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) oil and Triticum Vulgare (wheat germ) oil with a mild fragrance to create a soothing, nourishing formula that helps prepare the perineal tissues for birth.
The oil is scented and contains natural fragrance components such as limonene, linalool, citronellol, geraniol, citral and eugenol; these give the product a pleasant aroma while contributing to a calming massage experience.
Usage is simple and flexible: the oil can be applied by the mother herself or with a partner three to four times a week for 5–10 minutes, beginning at about week 34. For best results, use after a warm bath with an empty bladder, position yourself comfortably and massage gently and rhythmically.
The step-by-step technique involves moistening the thumb or index finger, gliding gently over the tissues, and inserting the finger about to the second joint to massage the vaginal wall in a rotating motion from approximately 3 to 9 o’clock. Over time tissues will become more relaxed and the massage duration may be increased. After massage, excess oil can be washed off in warm water.
This boxed product includes one 50 ml bottle and is ideal for expectant parents who want a natural, supportive tool for perineal preparation. If you have any concerns about perineal massage, please consult your midwife or doctor.
